The Great Wall of China　The Great Wall is a symbol of China. This is because it has been built with the wisdom and hard work of countless Chinese people. And its magnificence still awes the visitors today. It was first built to keep out the barbarians and act as a military fortress. It is indeed a clever idea and has worked effectively to protect the Chinese people for thousands of years. The thing is a miracle. How is it possible for men with neither advanced machinery nor lifters to build such a long war with such heavy, big bricks? How is it possible that this ancient wall has survived the erosions of time to this day? Today, when I think of the Great Wall, I feel proud of my country and my people from the bottom of my heart.
